In an interview with Channel 4, Red Bull Racing chief Christian Horner again disagreed with the criticism of the departure of the strongest specialists. He believes this is a natural rotation of personnel.
Christian Horner: “Many of the specialists who left have played an important role, but with a team of 2,000 people we prepare in advance for many changes in the staff. This is a rotation, this is how all teams work.
We had a great experience with Adrian Newey and look back on our achievements with great warmth and pride. But he decided to take on a new challenge. We knew this would happen. Adrian had been on the verge of retirement for ten years and we had prepared for that. The same goes for the departure of Jonathan Wheatley.
Over the past twelve months we have hired approximately 250 people to work on the powertrain project, including the new production facility. No one talks about the more than two hundred engineers we lured away from Mercedes, the press pays a lot of attention to the two employees who left, simply because they are more public.”
