The Newman/Haas Racing team competed in the IndyCar series from 1983 to 2011, where drivers recorded 108 race wins and 8 titles. Among them were motorsport heroes such as Mario and Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell and Sebastien Bourdais.
Then the team ceased to exist for economic reasons and over time both founders – Paul Newman in 2008, Karl Haas – died in 2016. But now the auction house RM Sotheby’s is auctioning a unique collection of IndyCar racing equipment from different years, formerly owned by the Karl Haas family – more than 40 cars, most of which won races and championships.
These are chassis made by the likes of Lola, Swift, Panoz and Dallara, and not only are they in excellent condition, many of them are set up the same as they were during the last race when the car started before it entered the museum. .
The auction is scheduled for October 29 and will feature various memorabilia in addition to equipment related in one way or another to the history of Newman/Haas Racing – helmets, race overalls, victory trophies, as well as collectible photos, posters and even artwork dedicated to the team .
