Crawford will drive with Aston Martin for the tests in Abu Dhabi

The Aston Martin team decided to entrust Jack Crawford to work on the youth tests in Abu Dhabi, which will be held in December after the end of the season.

The 19-year-old American driver will be behind the wheel of an AMR24 for the first time, but he tested the AMR22, a 2022 car, at Austria’s Red Bull Ring earlier this summer.

Jack is in his second season in F2 and is fifth in the youth series standings, with a sprint win in Barcelona and four further podium finishes to his name. And a few days ago he held demonstrations behind the wheel of an AMR22 in Houston, which took place as part of a joint event with Saudi oil giant Aramco, the title sponsor of the Aston Martin F1.

Jack Crawford: “I am very excited to drive the AMR24 for the first time in Abu Dhabi. I have spent many hours practicing on the simulator at the team base, and this work will continue before the tests so that I can prepare properly for them.

I know the Yas Marina circuit well and I hope this will help me quickly reach the desired speed level. “I would like to thank everyone at Aston Martin for the opportunity to test the car this year.”

Mike Krakteam leader: “We are ready to give Jack the opportunity to drive the AMR24 during testing in Abu Dhabi as he is a member of the Aston Martin youth programme.

In previous tests that Jack participated in this year, he has already shown that he understands all technical matters well. I know he will put a lot of effort into preparing for the upcoming tests, while continuing to compete in Formula 2 with two rounds to go before the end of the season.”

The name of the team driver who will work on the Pirelli tire tests will be announced at Aston Martin later.
