Before the start of each race weekend, journalists ask Valtteri Bottas a question about his contract for 2025. Each time the Finn answers that the problem has been practically solved, but in Austin he changed his usual answer. Valtteri said that in this situation the question about his contract should be asked to Sauber boss Mattia Binotto.
Valtteri Bottas: “I think I already said that I hoped to resolve the contract issue before Austin, but at the moment I continue to wait for the final decision. I think it’s better now to ask Mattia the question about the contract, and not me. I received a message that there is nothing I can do now.
This matter is no longer in my hands. Obviously I will try to perform as well as possible this week and hope that this will stimulate the development of events. The situation at the moment is that there is only one place left, so there is obviously a risk. I love Formula 1 and I want to compete here, so the situation is a bit strange, but it is what it is.
I’ve had a lot of time to think about things, but I’m still positive. I remain positive and believe that this place should be mine because I think I am the best option for the team.
As I said, all I can do now is show results and work hard with the team. Of course, from my side there is also a deadline for making a decision, as it is heading towards the Christmas holidays, and by this deadline there are virtually no places outside Formula 1 or in other roles in Formula 1. That is why I hope that a decision will be made in the near future.”
