Franco Colapinto has only driven three Grands Prix, but he has already felt the impact of his status as a Formula 1 driver…
Franco Colapinto: “I don’t feel like a hero. I’m the same as I was… no, not three months, but two years ago, when no one knew me.
And now they stop me, come up to take pictures, ask for an autograph. It’s not easy to get used to it. Yes, sometimes it’s fun, but not always comfortable. I would love to eat a double cheeseburger, but I can’t go to McDonald’s in peace – they keep taking pictures of me. I have to learn to be more careful and I’m working on it.
Some Argentinian footballers contacted me and wrote messages of support, as did Argentinian fans. Maybe some more players will come to the remaining races – that will be great. It’s nice to feel so much support from many athletes from my country. This is important for Argentina.”
