Carlos Sainz finished second in the Austin sprint, overtaking Lando Norris on the final lap. The Ferrari driver is happy with the result and thinks the car has the speed to compete for a high result on Sunday.
Carlos Sainz: “I had some nice battles! Good sprint. When the sprints go like this, you enjoy it because it adds to the action on the track.
I had a lot of fights, especially in the first five rounds. A lot happened and towards the finish I had problems with my tires. However, I saw that Lando also had problems with his tires and I thought that if I drove in the DRS zone I would have a chance to finish second. In the first corner I had a go – it was fun!
The pace of the car is inspiring. Maybe tomorrow we have a good chance. Our car is not in the best shape during qualifying, but we will try to qualify as high as possible.”
