Aston Martin’s best result in Austin was thirteenth place for Fernando Alonso. After the finish, the Spanish driver said that he knew before the start that it would be difficult for him to stay in the top ten. His teammate Lance Stroll finished fifteenth.
Fernando Alonso (13th): “It’s a difficult race and at the start I lost several positions. I believe my starting position was higher than the car’s capabilities, so I knew in advance that it would be difficult to stay in the top ten.
“It’s a tough weekend and we have to analyze a lot in the coming days to perform better in Mexico City.”
Lance walk (15th): “Today we didn’t have enough speed compared to our opponents. I didn’t do the best restart and ended up off the track in turn ten. But even without this the result would have been the same. The car simply didn’t have the speed to compete for positions.
There is still a lot to be done to improve the car. We will continue to work hard for this.”
