Telecommunications company Telmex, which has sponsored Sergio Perez for years, is ending its partnership with Red Bull Racing. The official reason is that the champion team strengthens cooperation with another telecommunications giant – AT&T, and no possible changes at all in the composition of Red Bull Racing.
At the same time, Carlos Slim Domit, head of Telmex’s racing programs, assures that the company will remain Perez’s personal sponsor and continue to support him.
“Sergio’s contract [с Red Bull] independent of our contract with the team,” says Slim Jr. “It was that way from the beginning, when he first signed the contract. But in any case, we will continue to support Sergio, even if we have to end our collaboration with the team. It is our intention to continue working with Sergio. Wherever he is, we will stay with him.”
