Sainz: Interlagos is more suitable for our rivals

Carlos Sainz believes the Interlagos circuit is better suited to his rivals than the Ferrari car. At the same time, the Spanish driver is confident that his team has a chance to challenge for the podium and victory.

Carlos Sainz: “I think this track is more suitable for our rivals, especially McLaren, but we want to compete with them. We will be able to compete for places in the top five, but maybe even for the podium and victory if the others can’t do everything perfectly. It is clear that a one-hour training will be crucial.”

Reflecting on the victory in Mexico City, Carlos said: “I really wanted to win the race before I left the team, and I did that in Mexico City in the presence of my family, which made the day unforgettable. That evening we all went out to dinner and celebrated until two in the morning. We really needed this!

This victory did not so much bring relief as motivation to perform well. If there is still a chance to win, I will do everything I can to help Ferrari in the battle for the Constructors’ Championship.

Right now I don’t want to think that I won’t be on the team at the end of the year. I choose to be proud of what we have achieved together. We have eliminated the weaknesses and taken the car to a previously unattainable level of competitiveness.”
