On Thursday, Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen spoke in Sao Paulo about the reasons for the increase in results in recent races and his future…
Kevin Magnussen: “We made a few changes to the brake design and it worked. In the last two Grand Prix I really had confidence in the car. Now it is important to maintain this confidence in the remaining races.
Previously, the brakes did not work immediately when I pressed the pedal, but after a pause. The result was that I pressed the pedal too hard compared to Nico. It’s important for me to feel like the brakes are acting immediately, and not having that feeling had a big impact on my confidence in the car going into a corner. The last change helped a lot and immediately affected the results.
It’s a pity that we have only now achieved the desired effect. I would like the brakes to work perfectly from the start of the season, but it is good that this has actually happened. In the last races, meetings in the leading group are possible, we must take advantage of this to achieve good results for the team.
My future? Nothing has changed yet. There are still formal vacancies, so I don’t rule anything out. Admittedly, when Andreas Seidl was at Sauber I knew what was happening in the team, but since Mattia Binotto took over I haven’t heard anything. But he knows I’m free, and I hope for this option. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes right now, so I’m in no rush to make a decision. I have good options for the future and no reason to make a decision now. Let’s see how everything turns out.”
