Next year many teams will change their line-ups and we will already see some transitions during the December tests in Abu Dhabi.
In these tests, teams usually field two drivers, one young and one experienced, to test new tires. For several teams, pilots who change teams will be behind the wheel; former employers have agreed to let them go.
Nico Hulkenberg in particular will drive for Sauber. The team has not yet chosen a young test participant, but it could be Gabriel Bortoleto.
At Haas, the tests will be carried out by Esteban Ocon and Oliver Berman, who meet the criteria of a “young driver” as he has driven “no more than two Grands Prix”.
Williams is negotiating with Ferrari to allow Carlos Sainz to test, but the Scuderia can refuse if the Spaniard has advertising or other commitments, just as Mercedes will not allow Lewis Hamilton, who will be busy at the Petronas event in Malaysia test.
Future debutants Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Jack Duane will test as rookies for Mercedes and Alpine.
