Berman: Ayo said this morning that Kevin needs a replacement.

In Brazil, newcomer Oliver Berman, replacing the ill Kevin Magnussen, made it to the final qualifying and his Haas F1 teammate Nico Hulkenberg dropped out in the second session.

Ayo Komatsuteam leader: “Oliver was impressive with the result, as he was called up at the last minute and only had one training session in the morning. He improved with each lap in the first and second parts of qualifying, and was unable to reach more on the third lap due to a problem with the tire temperature control unit, which caused him to spin out at the second corner – the tires did not enter the mode.

Niko was not happy with the car. During training he was bothered by the unevenness of the track and during qualifying for the sprint he could not find the necessary stability. The problem is the same as in Mexico, we have to think about how we can improve the car after the sprint.”

Oliver Berman (10th): “Ayo called in the morning and said Kevin needed a replacement. I know he’s not feeling well and I wish him the best. But I’m happy to be behind the wheel of Formula 1 again, it’s always fun.

The car behaved perfectly from the first lap of the morning practice. I’m happy that I made it to the last qualifying round, but I regret making a mistake in the first sector and losing time, because I rode the rest of the lap decently.”

Nico Hulkenberg (12th): “To be honest, the new asphalt is not that good, they talked about it a lot after the morning training.

Qualifying turned out to be difficult, just like last week I couldn’t get everything in order. I was happy with my lap, but fell behind. We have to find the reason, I didn’t feel the right grip.

After the sprint we will get a small reset when the park is lifted, so that we can work on the settings.”
