Mercedes drivers assess Saturday’s results differently: while George Russell managed to earn points in the sprint, Lewis Hamilton said it was one of the worst races in his memory.
George Russel (6-): “We earned some points by finishing exactly where we expected to finish, namely. just behind the top five.
We will try to achieve some improvements tomorrow, although it is clear that we will not be able to turn our W15 into a car capable of winning races overnight. So we just have to accept that we are at this level now.”
Lewis Hamilton (11th): “To be honest, the car worked terribly poorly today. Even worse than in the sprint qualifying. The race was definitely difficult, I would even say one of the worst, because the car was sliding around the track.
There was no grip at all and at times I couldn’t even overtake Williams, but just follow their pace. We still have a lot of work to do to try to change the settings somehow before we qualify.”
