Nico Hulkenberg was the only driver who failed to complete the sprint of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The Haas driver retired from racing due to gearbox problems. His teammate Oliver Berman finished fourteenth.
Oliver Berman (14th in the sprint): “I had a pretty bad start, but was able to make up a few places on the first lap. After that everything went well, but the tire problems gradually got worse and towards the finish I simply didn’t have the speed, so we have some work to do.
Too bad I couldn’t qualify, because I wanted to get behind the wheel again after a difficult sprint. Thanks to the fans who stuck with us. Hopefully we will qualify on Sunday morning and it will be a success.”
Nico Hulkenberg (sprint retirement): “First of all, thanks to everyone who stayed in the stands in the rain – you are great fans.
As for the sprint, there was a lot of smoke in the car and the team told me to stop on the track. So far everything has gone better than expected after qualifying for the sprint. However, the team has problems with the tires: the natural high wear on this track and the heat made life difficult for us. But I’m ready to fight on Sunday!
