George Russell took 2nd place in the rain qualifying in Sao Paulo and was obviously very satisfied. By the way, he liked the morning qualifying on race day so much that he proposed legalizing this weekend format.
George Russell (2nd): “I always like to come back to Sao Paulo because I have good memories of this circuit, although yesterday’s wait made it difficult for everyone – both for us and for the fans who stayed at the circuit for a long time. And today, when I returned to the race track, there was already a huge line at six in the morning.
I am of course very happy that I was able to show the 2nd result! To be honest, I really enjoyed qualifying this morning because it reminded me of the days of karting, when you had to wake up very early, have breakfast, put on your overalls and then go to the track straight away.
Maybe it is worth thinking about practicing this format in the future? Overall it was a great session and now we will see what we can achieve in the race.”
