After the finish of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, four drivers were called to the stewards for violating the start suspension procedure. Two of them were fined.
Following the departure of Lance Stroll, the race director initiated the procedure to cancel the start, specifying that the drivers were not allowed to leave the starting grid – there was a car off the track in Turn 4 that had to be towed.
The signal was given correctly, the light board came on, the teams were informed by the messaging system, but the four riders left convinced that an extra warm-up lap awaited them.
The race director, realizing that all cars would now have to complete an extra lap, gave the order to continue and return to the grid to follow the correct procedure for the rejected start.
According to the stewards, Lando Norris provoked the actions of the drivers directly behind him on the grid. The rider received an official warning (racing) and a fine of 5,000 euros. George Russell, who started second, received similar penalties.
Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson, who were behind them and also set off, were not fined.
