The Haas team failed to earn points during Sunday’s race at the Interlagos circuit. Oliver Berman finished twelfth and Nico Hulkenberg was completely disqualified.
After dropping out in the first corner, Nico’s car got stuck on the drainage grates and the marshals pushed the VF-24, after which the German returned to the track and continued the race. However, such assistance is prohibited by regulations, so Hulkenberg was shown a black flag.
Three rounds before the end of the season, Haas dropped to seventh place in the constructors’ championship and is three points behind Alpine.
Oliver Berman (12th): “A difficult race in which I made too many mistakes. On the one hand I finished twelfth – not far from the top ten, but on the other hand I made too many mistakes and lost time.
A very difficult day, but I learned a lot. The positive thing is that I learned the course, which I didn’t want to do until next year. Plus, racing in these weather conditions is rare, so it was a valuable experience.”
Nico Hulkenberg (disqualified): “Unfortunately I needed help from the marshals after getting stuck after a low-speed bend.
My bad, but I’m unlucky enough to be stuck like this. Usually you move on after a reversal, but in my case a small mistake led to serious consequences. It was a difficult and disappointing weekend.”
