Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finished in the top three at the São Paulo Grand Prix. The previous time both Enstone team riders were on the podium was at the 2013 South Korean Grand Prix. The result allowed Alpine to rise from ninth to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship.
Esteban Ocon (2nd): “What a day after such a difficult season! It was fun to drive on this track and see how the rain evened the odds. Someone said a long time ago that cars in the rain are almost the same, and over the years this statement has not been outdated.
It’s great to be on stage. The car is incredibly difficult to drive on a dry track, but easier to drive in the rain. Today’s race was special for the whole team.”
Pierre Gasly (3rd): “An incredible result for the entire team. We have had a difficult season and struggled to earn points. But under such weather conditions anything was possible. We believed in this until the end.
Two cars on the podium – I don’t think anyone expected this before the start of the season. Fantastic result. I am absolutely happy and proud of the team.
It was easy to give up in such a difficult season, but we never gave up and achieved this result. The team has earned a lot of points and we can be proud.”
