At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton only managed one point and finished tenth. During the race, the seven-time world champion complained about the car’s behavior and on the return lap to the pits after the finish he gave a speech on the radio, which was considered by many as a farewell speech.
“Disastrous weekend, boys,” said Lewis Hamilton. – There has never been such a bad car. Thanks for trying to fix something and to all the guys for the pit stop. If this is my last performance, it’s a shame it wasn’t the best, but I’m grateful.”
According to the first theory, Lewis’ words were addressed to the team mechanics and engineers who worked on the built series in Austin, Mexico City and Sao Paulo and will not come to the final races in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
According to the second theory, Lewis has parted ways with the entire team because he himself plans to end the season early.
Mercedes would not comment on the first theory, but a team spokesperson confirmed to the British news agency PA that Mercedes has no plans to replace Lewis Hamilton for the remaining 2024 races.
