Last season’s financial filings show that Red Bull’s managerial salaries increased significantly in 2023, when Max Verstappen achieved a record number of victories.
The Times reports that Horner, as director of Red Bull Technologies Ltd, earned £8.92m in 2023, up from £8.04m the year before. A season in which Max Verstappen won 19 of 22 races and won a third world title increased the team boss’ salary by 11%.
By comparison, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff was paid £6 million in salary, but he is a shareholder and also received generous dividends.
Horner is not a shareholder and is not entitled to these payments, but Red Bull shareholders received a total of £50 million in dividends for 2023.
As for Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, during his work his salary doubled – from 3.5 million to 7 million pounds.
