Formula 1 turnover fell in the third quarter

Formula 1 commercial rights holders Liberty Media said total revenue for the third quarter fell year-on-year to $861 million, compared with $887 million in 2023.

The difference is explained by the peculiarities of the calendar: in 2024, seven Grand Prix were held during this period, compared to eight last year.

“Formula 1 revenues fell in the third quarter due to lower rights and sponsorship income because one fewer race was held. In addition, sponsorship revenues decreased due to the impact of race mix on event-specific fees, partially offset by revenues from new sponsors,” Liberty Media said in a press release.

While sales declined, operating income increased from $132 million in 2023 to $146 million in 2024.

Total Formula 1 revenue has already exceeded 2023 levels thanks to a strong performance in the first quarter.
