Fines for violations are more often paid by teams, but in certain circumstances such fines, usually associated with disciplinary violations, are received by riders.
Sebastian Vettel paid the most to the FIA this year. First 5,000 euros for returning after an accident to the Aston Martin pits on a scooter taken from one of the marshals. Then another 25,000 euros for early departure of the riders briefing in Spielberg. There were also several speeding tickets in the pit lane, paid by the team if the speed limiter was set incorrectly – and by the driver if he forgot to activate the limiter.
