The Ironman triathlon is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the world, requiring incredible endurance from its participants, and of former and current Formula 1 drivers, only Jenson Button has ever competed in it.
Valtteri Bottas is also in excellent physical condition, for whom cycling a few hundred kilometers is quite normal, although he had not previously spoken about his interest in taking part in the Ironman.
But the day before, he shared a minute and a half video on social networks, capturing how a Finnish racer, without leaving the confines of a comfortable villa, under the supervision of a coach, completes the entire triathlon program, i.e. swims 3.8 km in the pool, rides 180 km on the exercise bike and also completes the full marathon distance, all 42.2 km, on a treadmill.
Valtteri accompanied this video with a short comment: “Ironman in the villa. What’s next?”
Perhaps Bottas is really preparing to participate in Ironman, but the next such competition will not take place until the spring of 2025, but for now such impressive endurance will come in handy in the remaining races of the season, two of which will be will take place in the Middle East, in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, where it will be very hot.
However, because Valtteri does not have or does not have a contract until 2025, it can be assumed that he will soon be able to organize his time more freely, including in the triathlons.
The video has collected hundreds of thousands of views, likes and many comments, one of which is worth quoting: “Valtteri, you have outdone yourself! I don’t think any other championship driver can do this!”
It is also useful to provide more detailed information about Bottas’ training: he swam 3.8 km in 1 hour and 5 minutes. and 52 sec.; Cycled 180 km in 5 hours and 29 minutes. 35 seconds, completing the marathon distance in 4 hours and 23 minutes. 54 sec. Such indicators already make it possible to participate in the Ironman triathlon, but Valtteri’s immediate plans still include the Grand Prix of Las Vegas.
