Jeremy Clarkson, a popular British TV presenter, best known for the car programs Top Gear and Grand Tour, and now working on his new project ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, shared his opinion about two champions, Lewis Hamilton and Max, after the Brazilian Grand Prix Verstappen .
The winner of seven titles, who is in his final races for Mercedes, did not perform well in Brazil last weekend, earning one point for 10th place. The current world champion, on the other hand, rode one of his best races and, after starting from a distant 17th position, achieved a brilliant victory.
“We learned two important things last weekend in Brazil,” Clarkson wrote. – No, maybe three, if you consider Lance Stroll, who had an accident in a newly repaired car during the formation circle. He went off the road and got stuck in a gravel trap.
First of all, Max Verstappen is one of the best drivers of all time. Maybe even the best we’ve ever seen. And secondly, Lewis Hamilton’s time has passed.
He blamed his failure in qualifying on the car, while his teammate, George Russell, made it to the front row. Of course, it can be assumed that due to the fact that Lewis will move to Ferrari next year, the team poured lemon-barley infusion into the tank of his car instead of gasoline. But this is unlikely. It’s much more likely that he’s already a little old.
Clarkson is known for his harsh judgments and specific humor, sometimes called “on the edge of transgression,” and in this case he spoke in his usual manner. Fans of Hamilton’s talent and Ferrari fans may be offended when they read this, but Bernie Ecclestone recently spoke in much the same vein, and we also quoted his words:
“For John Elkann, the head of Ferrari, it was important to stroke his ego. He thought he had the best driver in the world. When he signed the contract with Lewis, there was nothing to indicate he had made a miscalculation. Whether he is happy now is another story. Everything will only become clear with time.
If Lewis is fading, which I personally wouldn’t like to see, then he should leave Formula 1 and do something else…”
