Preparations for the Formula 1 race in Las Vegas are in full swing

Las Vegas is preparing for the Formula 1 race and Bloomberg journalists devoted a text to the upcoming Grand Prix, predicting that in the second year the economic indicators of this phase of the season will be even higher than in 2023.

The following statistics are given: on the days of the debut race, fans in Las Vegas spent an average of 3.6 times more money than ordinary tourists who come to this “Sin City”, located in Nevada, at other times of the year. In total, they left $883 million there, with 20% of the audience coming from outside the United States.

According to the organizers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, more than 300 thousand people attended the race last year and the city’s economy received $1.5 billion in direct and indirect revenues.

There were also dissatisfied people; they did not like that holding the race in the central parts of the city would entail large-scale construction work and the blocking of transportation routes, which inevitably caused inconvenience to the population.

But, as the author of the article writes: “Most of the locals I spoke to, including taxi drivers, waiters and beauty salon employees, thought Formula 1 touring in Vegas was cool. They liked that they could get a glimpse of what was happening on the track without having to buy a ticket.”

By the way, some local newspapers have already published some kind of guides to Las Vegas for those who are not going to spend money on tickets to the Grand Prix, because during the race weekend in the city there will be many interesting events related to Formula 1, where you can visit completely free of charge. But if, for example, you visit the Williams fan zone on the Las Vegas strip and want to buy a branded T-shirt or cap there, it’s a different story.

According to Bloomberg, there are still rooms available at hotels in the city for November 21-24, and you can still find a budget option for under $100 per night. However, in hotels of a higher category, located near the highway, a room for the coming weekend costs eight times as much.

It is separately emphasized that the process of preparing for the Grand Prix this year will cause much less inconvenience to others than in 2023. Billboards have already been placed throughout the city drawing attention to the extensive cultural program that will accompany the race weekend and other exciting events .

In particular, the Colosseum concert hall, located on the territory of the Caesars Palace hotel, will host a performance by the famous British singer Adele, awarded 16 Grammy awards. And one of the main new attractions in Las Vegas, the world’s largest LED screen Sphere, will broadcast an Eagles concert on one of the days – however, the legendary American team will continue to play on the Sphere stage until next spring.

Tickets for the race are still available, although they say only the cheapest, which are only available to locals for $99, and the most expensive remain. For example, if someone is willing to spend $35,000, that price also includes a racecourse view dinner hosted by famed British chef Gordon Ramsay.
