Sargent prepares for the first IndyCar test

Logan Sargent, fired from Williams last summer, is preparing for his first IndyCar test. We wrote in September that the American driver will get his first experience driving such cars, and these tests will take place next Tuesday.

The Meyer Shank Racing team shared a few photos of Logan’s preparation process, including seat adjustments, before he heads to the Thermal Club road course in California on November 19.

On the one hand, there are no vacancies at Meyer Shank Racing for next year, on the other hand: if Sargent shows during the tests that he can adapt to a technique that is new to him and shows good speed, then there is a chance that he can attract the attention of others pulling teams. In any case, the experience gained will be useful to him.

“I got to know him and his family some time ago and Logan’s manager, who also manages George Russell’s career, has been in constant contact with us and is closely monitoring the development of the situation,” said Michael Shank, co-owner of the team. – A few years ago we worked on tests with Nyck de Vries and the reason was similar: now we know what he is capable of.

Even if we didn’t get anything out of it, it’s important to know which riders have real talent. We don’t have room for Logan until 2025, but I always keep a backup option in mind in case we run into any issues. We have a driver we can turn to straight away and this is a rare opportunity to put some confidence in someone who I think has potential for testing.

Formally, we also need to organize tests for Sargent on the oval circuit to see how he does. Maybe someday we will. But now we will understand whether this man is suitable for us or not.”
