The higher the position a team occupies in the constructors’ championship at the end of the season, the less time it will have to work in the wind tunnel next year. Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur thinks that some teams are consciously sacrificing next season to spend more time in the wind tunnel later.
Frédéric Vasseur: “Nowadays different working hours in the wind tunnel are not that important. The teams have maximized the potential of the cars created under the current regulations. With each update we make only small progress.
But 2026 will be a turning point, the regulations will change so that next year individual teams not competing for the title can sacrifice their results by devoting all their efforts to developing the 2026 car. A lower position in the Constructors’ Championship will allow them to spend more time in the wind tunnel when it really matters.”
