Juan Pablo Montoya: Red Bull wants Perez to leave

Juan Pablo Montoya commented on the situation Sergio Perez found himself in. The former Formula 1 driver thinks that Perez will continue to drive for Red Bull Racing next season, although the team itself does not want that.

Juan Pablo Montoya: “Sergio insists he will continue competing next season. Personally, I believe he will start in 2025, although Red Bull does not want this. They want Perez to leave the team, that’s 100%.

Ralf Schumacher recently said: “Sergio will not drive a single lap in a Red Bull in 2025.” I don’t know where Ralph got this information from – maybe he got it from Germany, Austria or Red Bull. He clearly knows something, but I don’t think Sergio will give up so easily.

Sergio has already said he wants to end his career on his own terms. He will not be treated like Daniel Ricciardo. The main difference between Perez and Ricciardo is that Sergio brings money to the team, while Ricciardo does not.

I don’t know what’s happening behind closed doors, but a lot of people want Perez gone, and his departure is Colapinto’s only chance to start in 2025. I don’t think Franco has a chance of joining Red Bull, but he could have a chance at Williams if Red Bull acquires Carlos Sainz.

If I were Christian Horner, I would come to Williams and say: “Look, you are happy with Colapinto, keep him and give me Sainz.” Knowing Carlos, I assume when he signed with Williams he said he would stay with them, but if he doesn’t start winning or getting on the podium, and someone offers him different options every year, then he will leave.

If I were Red Bull, I would say to Williams: “You can lose Carlos now or in a year’s time, but you will get money for him now, but not in a year’s time.”
