Herbert: Parity at McLaren will be restored soon

Former Formula 1 driver and Grand Prix steward Johnny Herbert believes that if Lando Norris loses his title shot, McLaren will once again back both drivers on an equal footing.

Johnny Herbert: “If the battle in the individual championship ends at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Lando cannot win the title, McLaren will return to the previous parity and let both drivers battle for victory. This will be the approach in 2025, until we need to reprioritize.

The fight between Norris and Piastri is one of the most intriguing storylines for next season. Like many, I am already looking forward to it and expect an even battle between the four teams throughout the season.

It won’t be easy to beat Oscar, but this year Lando was able to step up when needed and lead the team to where it is today.

But recent newcomer Piastri showed his potential and was very consistent and fast. He scored two convincing Grand Prix victories that kept him within striking distance of Norris. He has shown the ability to adapt and win under pressure, making him a contender in 2025 and beyond.”
