Red Bull feared they would be cast as villains in the F1 film

The world premiere of the F1 film starring Brad Pitt will take place in the summer of 2025, and one of the film’s producers will be Lewis Hamilton. The film crew actively collaborated with the Mercedes team, which created racing cars for the fictional APXGP team and modernized Formula 2 equipment.

Chief producer Jerry Bruckheimer said at the Investor Day 2024 event that due to the collaboration with Mercedes, other teams were initially reluctant to interact with the film’s authors, and Red Bull Racing even feared that they would be presented as villains.

Jerry Bruckheimer: “It’s interesting that as soon as we agreed to work with Mercedes, other teams said, ‘Wait, it’s going to be a movie about Mercedes and we’re going to look bad.’ Red Bull even said: “We will be portrayed as villains.” It took us three years to convince them that they wouldn’t be villains. At some point we reached a point where all the teams started working together and helping us.

I think we will show the film to the drivers and teams in Monaco. This will be followed by premieres in New York, London and various other cities.

Brad Pitt has seriously invested in this film. He doesn’t really like talking to the press, but I think we’ll take him on a world tour where he’ll be happy to show off his driving and acting skills in this movie.”
