2022 vs 2021: average finish

Comparing the interim results of two seasons in Formula 1 is always difficult. Different number of races, even different scoring systems. But remotely these factors are not so critical, but the trend is still visible.

Last year eleven Grand Prix took place before the summer holidays, this year thirteen. The sprint scoring scheme has been changed, but this does not affect the average finish position at the end of the last Grand Prix – and we have decided to compare the situation in the championship for the Belgian Grand Prix this and last year in this indicator.

The progress and decline of those who changed the team is obvious. Ratings leader George Russell switched from Williams to Mercedes – and played the most compared to last year. Valtteri Bottas, on the other hand, moved from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo and lost the most, but the positions of the rest are very interesting.

Of those who have not changed teams, Mick Schumacher has made the most progress, averaging nearly four places higher in the first part of the season this year than in 2021.
