Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel predicts that by 2025 there will be no drivers in the youth series currently competing in the F1 Academy Women’s Championship.
“Some of them are very talented, like Abbie Pulling, but they are not ready for Formula 3 yet,” he told BBC Sport. “I would be willing to invite the driver who wins the F1 Academy title, but only if I think she will do well.”
There are still two legs to go in the women’s series until the end of the season, and Abby Pulling, who once competed in the W Series, is confidently leading the individual competition. Apparently it is she who gets the main prize: a fully paid season in the British GB3 Championship in the Rodin Motorsport team, including 20 days of testing.
Abbey, who turned 21 last spring, agrees with Bruno Michel but hopes the award will help her prepare for the move from GB3 to the higher series.
“If I can finish the season well and win this prize, the Christmas holidays will be a lot less stressful than previous years,” Pulling told BBC Sport. “I want to prove to everyone that I can be the best.” I’m not joining the F1 Academy to be the best among women. I want to become the best driver.”
