Yesterday, Dutch television channel Ziggo Sport spread the rumor that Stefano Domenicali could step down as president and CEO of Formula 1 to head up a new Liberty Media project linked to MotoGP, the motorcycle racing world championship.
But today, many media outlets that picked up the gossip had to apologize and admit that this information was untrue.
Let’s quote the authoritative British journalist Chris Medland, who obviously did not spread such “news”, checked everything through his channels and finally wrote the following:
“This weekend reports emerged claiming that Stefano Domenicali will leave F1 and take over as CEO of MotoGP. I was assured this was not the case and a senior Formula 1 source called it all nonsense.”
It must be assumed that the subject of Domenicali’s departure from his post can be considered closed at this point, at least for this historical period.
