Ayo Komatsu: It’s hard to find an approach to tires in Las Vegas

The American Haas F1 team is preparing for its next home race, the Grand Prix of Las Vegas, which will be held for the second time this year on a 6.2 km circuit in the most public-friendly area of Nevada’s largest city.

Kevin Magnussen returns to the wheel next weekend after missing the Brazilian stage of the season due to ill health.

Nico Hulkenberg: “We have the last three races ahead of us and of course we want to get back to 6th in the Constructors’ Championship to end the season on a good note.

The first stop will be in Las Vegas, where we will race on a unique track with a very beautiful city backdrop, which creates a special atmosphere. I’m looking forward to this weekend and in the most fighting spirit possible.”

Kevin Magnussen: “I love the circuit in Las Vegas, it’s very interesting to race there. I generally like city circuits, and the street circuit in Las Vegas is just amazing.

There are a lot of high speed sections and although these are not very technical, some of the corners there require taking at very high speed which is always great.

Speeding down the Las Vegas Strip and seeing the city from your car naturally makes a strong impression. The weekend schedule is difficult because the race takes place late in the evening and this has a major impact on the daily work schedule.”

Ayo Komatsuteam leader: “The Las Vegas Grand Prix can be considered a unique test for a number of reasons. The circuit can be compared to the Baku City Circuit, i.e. This is a city ring with a very long straight line with slow bends.

But the main difference with Baku is the low temperatures. It’s quite cold in Las Vegas, so finding the right tire size is very difficult. A lot of accidents happened there last year, so in Las Vegas you have to be constantly alert and seize every opportunity to earn points.”
