The film F1 with Brad Pitt will be released worldwide in June next year. One of the film’s producers and consultants is Lewis Hamilton, and according to lead producer Jerry Bruckheimer, some scenes had to be reshot due to the seven-time world champion’s comments, leading to higher production costs for the film.
“Lewis Hamilton looked at the process and explained how drivers actually do certain things,” Jerry Bruckheimer said at Investor Day 2024. “He talked about very specific things. For example, Silverstone’s third corner has to be taken in second gear, but he heard Pitt took it in third gear. He brought so much subtlety to the film.
And he also said that in Singapore, where it is very hot, he has difficulty getting out of the cockpit after the finish, he loses ten pounds [4,5 кг]. And this applies not only to Lewis, but to all racers. They are completely exhausted and we are determined to show what it means to be a Formula 1 driver.
Lewis gave a lot to the film and I can’t thank him enough and all the guys at Formula 1 who made this project possible. He shared incredible details about a racer’s job and the sport in general that are impossible to imagine without being inside.
Sometimes we didn’t like hearing things Lewis said because it cost us a lot of money to reshoot certain scenes. But at the end of the day, we all wanted a great movie, and Lewis certainly helped us achieve that.”
