Former Formula 1 driver, pundit and Sky Sport F1 commentator Karun Chandhok believes Lewis Hamilton is feeling pressure from lack of results before switching to Ferrari…
Karun Chandhok: “Lewis faces a big challenge next year. His Ferrari teammate will be Charles Leclerc, and we don’t know if Hamilton will be able to fight him in qualifying. I don’t think he can, but it’s unlikely anyone else could. I consider Charles the best in Formula 1 qualifying.
Can Lewis win the championship in a good car? Undoubtedly. Even now we sometimes see signs that he is fast enough.
I think Lewis is worried about his results in qualifying. For a man who is statistically the most successful qualifying athlete in the history of our sport, he found himself in an unusual situation. This puts pressure on him, but the problem is that Hamilton has not had a chance to fight for pole in the last three years. When such an opportunity arises, athletes at his level always find an opportunity to improve.”
