In the battle for position, Max Verstappen has forced his rivals off the track more than once, especially when someone threatened his dominance. McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown told Auto Motor und Sport that Verstappen must set his limits.
Zac Brown: “The world has changed, become more transparent. Today, admitting weaknesses is strength. Everyone has them. Maybe Lando speaks too candidly at times and there are some things he should have kept quiet, but I don’t think that translates into a weakness on the track.
In Austin, Lando rode brilliantly. The only thing he could have done differently was simply crash into Max’s car. It’s not our style, and it’s not Lando’s style, but it ended up causing a lot of discussion about the rules of the game.
On the court, Lando acts tough but fair. Max is a great racer, but he always pushes himself to the limit. Someone has to tell him where the boundaries are. If this doesn’t happen, there will be scenes like the one between Lewis and Max in 2021, when Lewis said to himself: enough is enough. I don’t think we want to go back to that.”
