Marco: Three stages in a row at the end of the season is crazy

In an interview with OE 24, Helmut Marko spoke about the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix and Max Verstappen’s first chance this year to win the championship title ahead of schedule…

Question: Helmut, how are you looking forward to the stage in Las Vegas?
Helmut Marko: Crazy city, slot machines in the hotel lobby, night race… Last year’s race was great, but overall the event did not live up to high expectations. Moreover, the Grand Prix does not enjoy much support from the local population. Almost all roads are closed and you have to make a detour everywhere. In addition, we have to arrive a day early due to poor air connections.

Question: Does the longest season in Formula 1 have an impact?
Helmut Marko: You could say that. Three stages in a row at the end of a season like this is just crazy.

Question: Perhaps you will celebrate Max Verstappen’s fourth title after the finish…
Helmut Marko: For this I am willing to put up with the extra crowds in Las Vegas. In fact, the odds are quite good. Our car was fast on a dry track in Brazil, although Max also drove in the rain in his class. If we win the title this year, it will mainly be down to Max. With his exceptional skill he compensated for all the weaknesses of our car.

Question: Do you already have World Champion T-shirts printed with the number “4”?
Helmut Marko: As far as I know, Verstappen’s manager certainly has them in his luggage.

Question: If Red Bull loses the Constructors’ Championship, it will be due to Sergio Perez’s mistakes. Could he leave the cockpit for the final in Abu Dhabi?
Helmut Marko: Three more races are scheduled. Maybe we will succeed.
