Max Verstappen has called the FIA’s decision to fire Formula 1 race director Nils Wittich three rounds before the end of the season “strange”. The current world champion believes that if Wittich did not suit the FIA management, they should have parted ways with him after the last race.

It doesn’t matter whether you view certain things positively or negatively. For example, I think it could have worked better in Brazil.
But it’s still strange that we’re dealing with the new race director here. If you want to change directors, you usually do so after the end of the season, so that the new one has time to get up to speed.
