Guanyu Zhou: Negotiations about my future are already underway

Guanyu Zhou said he is in discussions with several teams about the role of reserve driver, but has not yet decided who he will work with next year.

Guanyu Zhou: “On the one hand, I naturally want to stay in Formula 1 in 2025, on the other hand, I feel that after such a difficult season, the right time has come to start, let’s say: a new chapter .

It is clear that I still want to complete this championship as best as possible, and at the same time intensive negotiations about my future are already underway. I will try to stay in Formula 1, and now it is important to decide correctly which team I can best work with as a reserve driver.

Nothing has been decided yet, although many teams are showing interest. I’m not in a hurry, I want to know exactly who has what plans and I hope I can share good news soon, but that won’t happen in the near future.

When Sauber announced the impending termination of our partnership, I was already in negotiations with several teams, and after the official announcement, other teams also approached us. This is good news because we have so many options to choose from. But to understand who I want to collaborate with, I must first study all the proposals in detail.

In general, on the one hand I think about the future, on the other hand I prepare for the coming weekend in Las Vegas.”

When Zhou was asked why the role of reserve driver seemed more attractive to him than a switch to another racing series, the Chinese driver replied: “I feel that I am still quite young, but at the same time I already have a lot of experience in Formula 1. Next year many young people come to the championship and it is impossible to predict in advance how they will fare, good or bad.

Therefore, there are still some opportunities left and I prefer to stay in the championship and wait for the next opportunity. “I really believe that after such a tough season, this is the right time to sit out the season and prepare for the next chapter of my career.”
