Lando Norris admitted he was not ready to challenge Max Verstappen for the title in 2024. Three stages before the end of the season, the McLaren driver is 62 points behind his opponent, and already in Las Vegas Max can guarantee themselves victory in the championship.
Lando Norris: “I probably wasn’t ready to fight Red Bull and Max. Now I feel ready, but it’s too late. Unlike others, I still continue to claim the title and do everything for it. But I admit that in the past I have not done everything in my power.
I think Max is the best driver in the history of Formula 1 and I don’t think there will ever be anyone in the championship who is much better than Verstappen. This is my opinion and I believe in it. To fight such a strong opponent, who I know well enough, I had to do more than this season.
However, I believe that my form after the summer holidays was almost necessary to be able to fight him. I think this form will be enough to participate next year.”
