Red Bull brought the wrong wing to Las Vegas

Red Bull Racing made a mistake when choosing the rear wing for the Las Vegas stage. The team brought a higher downforce version of the wing to the city circuit, which led to a loss of 7 km/h on the straights to Mercedes and McLaren.

The team tried to correct the situation through adjustments, but this did not have the desired effect, which was confirmed by motorsport advisor Helmut Marko: “We have no other smaller wing than our competitors. It would of course become more appropriate.”

When Marco was asked if the team would have time to bring another wing to Las Vegas, he responded briefly: “No.”

At the same time, the Austrian specialist noted that the first training sessions showed that Red Bull Racing had other problems in addition to the inappropriate rear wing: “We could not do a fast lap on soft tires and over the long distance everything was not so good either.

Some laps were competitive, but then the rear tires started to lose their effectiveness. We have seen glimpses of speed, but we still need to achieve stability. In addition, the balance needs to be improved. We can improve on a fast lap, but the problem at the moment is tire wear over a long distance.

Tomorrow will be a new day. We have often seen competitors being fast in practice, but this did not mean they were fast in the race. Without a doubt we will improve.”
