Andrea Stella: There were no surprises

McLaren is generally pleased with the results of the first practice sessions in Las Vegas, although they admit that working on this track and achieving the desired results is very difficult.

Lando Norris (2nd): “It’s great to be behind the wheel again and the first training sessions are already behind us. It was not easy to work on the track, it is slippery and the grip is very low, but this was the case last year so we expected the conditions to be like this.

This combination of factors makes it difficult to achieve a comfortable driving experience and set up the car correctly, but we did make some progress, which is always good.

We still have something to work on, so now we will analyze the information collected and prepare for tomorrow.”

Oscar Piastri (8th): “It was an interesting day, but we still have to work on a few points. I think we showed a completely normal pace, so I’m more or less satisfied with the results of the training.

Now I just have to put everything together and learn how to warm the tires up to the required temperatures. I’m not sure I was able to fully do this today. However, I think a lot of positive things have also happened, but for tomorrow’s qualifying it is important to finalize some things.”

Andrea Stellateam leader: “There were no surprises on the first day of work at the circuit in Las Vegas. The weather is cold, just like last year, so we expected grip to be low and the tires to behave unusually – and that’s what happened.

Finding the right settings isn’t easy, but it still seems like we’re more or less competitive. At the same time, Mercedes and Ferrari are going very fast and I am sure that Red Bull will also improve in the remaining days of the weekend.

We must do everything we can to get the maximum possible speed out of the car in these difficult conditions and earn as many points as possible.”
