Yuki Tsunoda: Let’s try to qualify for the finals

RB racers rated the results from the first day of the Las Vegas race weekend differently. While Yuki Tsunoda was pleased with the car’s speed, Liam Lawson complained about the low grip on the track.

Yuki Tsunoda (10th): “Overall a positive first day in Las Vegas. There were some problems during the first training, but we were able to solve them in the second session. This is a positive sign, because this is usually not that easy to solve.

I think we’ve found a direction that we’ll stick to all weekend. We still have to adjust the settings to regain a few tenths and try to qualify for the qualifying final.

The speed over the long series of laps also seems good, but a lot depends on how we handle the tires in such difficult and unusual conditions. However, it is important to find the right balance between high lap speed and the speed of long series.”

Liam Lawson (15th): “To be honest, a difficult day. We were slow in the first training, but after that we took a step forward and learned a lot. It is very cold in Las Vegas and the track is slippery and muddy.

In the second session the track temperature was even lower, but the asphalt condition improved and we learned a lot that will help tomorrow. We have all the necessary information to improve and I hope we can return to the top ten. But it will depend on how much progress the others make.”
