Williams confirmed that doctors cleared Franco Colapinto to take part in the race after an additional examination.
“Following yesterday’s incident during qualifying, Franco underwent a thorough examination by the circuit’s medical staff and was cleared to compete in the evening Grand Prix of Las Vegas.
Franco’s health is our top priority and we are pleased that he is healthy enough to race after such a serious incident. We thank the medical staff for their excellent care and attention.
We are very grateful to our incredible team of mechanics for their hard work repairing Franco’s car, and to our fans and partners for their continued support. We have taken the opportunity to make some changes to the set-up during the renovation, which will see Franco start the race from the pit lane.
We look forward to racing under the floodlights today,” the team said in a statement.
