Williams driver Colapinto cleared for Las Vegas Grand Prix after third consecutive crash

Team Driver “Guillaume” Franco Colapinto admitted to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas, despite a serious accident during qualifying. Williams’ official website reports this.

In the second segment of qualifying, Colapinto hit the fence with his left wheel and crashed into the wall, damaging the concrete barrier and crushing his car. The Argentine pilot himself was not injured.

The rider underwent a thorough medical examination, following which doctors cleared him to compete. Williams mechanics managed to repair the Argentinian’s car.

This is Colapinto’s third crash in the last two special stages. On November 2 and 3, during the Brazilian Grand Prix, he crashed twice: in qualifying and in the race.

In accordance with Formula 1 regulations, a non-qualified driver starts from the pit lane, after all other participants. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place on November 24.
