In Vegas, both Aston Martin drivers dropped out of the race in the first part of qualifying.
Fernando Alonso (17th): “We lacked speed all weekend, before qualifying we understood that it would not be easy. The cool weather in Vegas prevented us from finding the optimal balance and getting the tires to perform.
We haven’t been able to fight our rivals for a number of stages now, we have to improve and keep learning for next year. Last year we saw that anything is possible on this track, we are ready to take advantage of any incidents and the safety car.”
Lance walk (20th): “The team put a lot of effort into preparing my car for qualifying after the ERS system failed in the third practice session. I managed to complete one lap, but on unheated tires I got stuck in traffic and couldn’t reach anymore.
In tomorrow’s race it is important to take care of the condition of the tires, and our car puts a lot of pressure on them, but we will see what we can do.”
