George Russell had a great race in Las Vegas, taking the third win of his career and the second this season. After the finish he admitted that he expected some problems could prevent him from winning this Grand Prix, but nothing happened.
At the same time, Lewis Hamilton also performed very well, and after a failed qualifying he came back confidently and finished second.
George Russel (1st): “I was planning to fly out of Las Vegas in a few hours, but now I can’t get on that flight! I’m going to enjoy tonight with my team. What we dreamed of this weekend came true! I don’t even know how we got so fast, but now I’m just enjoying what we achieved today.
Las Vegas is an absolutely crazy city, I don’t even have enough words to describe it. When we are on track we see the impressive backdrop of the race and there is hardly a better place than Las Vegas to first win pole and then take the winning double with Lewis.
But as the race went on, I kept waiting for something to happen because both races where I started from pole were chaotic. It was pouring rain and the track was wet or dry, the weather conditions were constantly changing. You can also remember the previous race in Brazil, which was suddenly stopped by red flags.
In general, I expected some problems today, but nothing happened! I think luck was on our side today, so I’m just happy now!
