Pilot “Red Bull » Max Verstappen thanked the team after winning the fourth consecutive Formula 1 title, stressing that he was not counting on such a result.
Verstappen took fifth place on Saturday at the Las Vegas Grand Prix and became the 2024 season champion sooner than expected.
– It was a long season, of course, we started it amazing – almost at cruising speed, but then we went through a difficult period.
But we remained united as a team. We kept working on improvements and we got there. I am incredibly proud of everyone and what they have done for me.
Being here as a four-time world champion is, of course, something I never thought possible. Yes, right now I just feel relieved, but also very proud.
It was a very difficult season, I had to stay calm.
I think in some ways I still prefer the way last season went; I really enjoyed it, but I think there are definitely lessons in this season that I’m very proud of. We also managed it as a team, so in a way that also makes it a special and great season,” Verstappen said as quoted by Motorsport.
He also indicated that he intends to compete for the title next season.
— What can I tell the team? We’ve been through a lot together, and all these heights that we’re reaching right now, it’s very important to do it with this whole group of people. They always give everything to give me the car and fight for the title.
If we talk about next season, I think it will be a real battle between many cars. But yes I’m hungry [до побед]Certainly. “I’m going to enjoy it, but there are still two races I want to perform well in, we’re going to take a little break and then try again next year,” said the 27-year-old.
The penultimate stage of the season, the Qatar Grand Prix, will take place from November 29 to December 1.
