Visa RB earned a few points in Las Vegas thanks to Yuki Tsunoda who finished ninth, but his teammate Liam Lawson was unable to reach the top ten, partly due to poor tactical choices.
Yuki Tsunoda (9th): “Today’s race was not easy, but we did everything we could and I think the team made progress over the weekend.
Of course I am happy to have earned points, but at the same time it is a shame that we missed the opportunity to improve our position in the Constructors’ Championship. I felt comfortable behind the wheel, I had confidence in the car, and on a track like Las Vegas this is important. I’m happy with this, and I was also happy with our pace.
There are still two races to go before the end of the season, we will keep fighting until the end and I am already starting to prepare for the Qatar Grand Prix, which will take place next week.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Max Verstappen on his fourth championship title. His performances this year have been very impressive and his further World Championship victory is a well-deserved success.”
Liam Lawson (16th): “It was a difficult race, although the first segment was not too bad, we had an argument with the riders of the group we were in, but on this track it is really difficult to overtake, at least it was difficult for us.
We tried to use the one pit stop tactic, but as the second part of the distance turned out to be too long we had to pit again and ended up rolling back. The tactic simply didn’t work.
Yesterday’s problems were repeated today, and that cost us a lot of money, but we will try to draw conclusions and tackle these problems next week. Yuki had a good race and earned points, but to end the season with confidence we need to perform as well as possible in the next two rounds.
Congratulations to Max on his fourth title, this is an impressive and well-deserved achievement as he has really had to fight this year.”
